Sydney mortgage broker charged again with further $1.1 million fraud
Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 8:33AM In July, his lawyer told the court Mr Hraiki had encountered financial difficulties while developing a property in Kings Cross that would have realised tens of millions of dollars in profit.
At the time, Magistrate Allan Moore commented that at one point there had been $5 million worth of dishonest activities.
The new charges cover dates between September 2006 and April this year.
Mr Hraiki is accused of obtaining $39,999, $41,500 and $550,000 from different people by deception. He allegedly used false documents to entice the victims into thinking they were engaging in a legitimate investment.
He also is charged with using false documents to obtain a $300,000 mortgage on a Lake Illawarra South property and a $722,000 second mortgage on a South West Rocks property.
Bail was again formally refused and his case adjourned to the same court on December 8.
