Three realtors plead guilty in San Bernadino fraud
Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 3:30PM In the following press release the San Bernardino County District Attorney announced that on Thursday, November 20, 2008, Jose Oliva, 33, of Fontana was sentenced to jail on felony charges connected to real estate fraud. Oliva was sentenced to 180 days in the County Jail and 3 years probation as part of a plea agreement. Oliva, a real estate agent, pleaded guilty to the crime of grand theft.
On October 16, 2008, Gabriel “Carlos” Hernandez, 36, of Victorville and Luis Robles, 46, of San Bernardino, who is also a real estate agent, were sentenced as part of plea agreements. Robles was sentenced to 180 days in County Jail with 3 years formal probation for forgery. Hernandez was sentenced to County Jail and
16 months state prison, suspended, for forgery.
In 2003 and 2004, the three conspired to steal the victim’s identity for the fraudulent purchase of a home in Victorville. The victim discovered the fraud when he attempted to refinance his own Santa Ana residence. The victim found that his signature had been forged on numerous loan documents.
In July 2008, Investigators from the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Real Estate Fraud Unit had arrested the three defendants after an extensive criminal investigation.
